Jim Bell | Rotary Public Image Coordinator | Email

A member of the RC of Bakersfield Twilight, Jim began his Rotary career as a member of the Rotary Club of Bakersfield Breakfast in 2004.  Jim served as their 27th Club President in 2008-2009.  That year, his major club project was to charter an evening club in Bakersfield.  The Rotary Club of Bakersfield Twilight became a reality in May of 2009 when Jim, other Rotarians, and brand new Rotarians joined as Charter Members.  He has held key leadership positions in both Rotary clubs and both Club Foundations as well as many different District positions including receiving District 5240 Rotarian of the Year in 2011- 2012.  Jim is a Past District Governor for District 5240, past member of the faculty for GETS/GNATS, Far West PETS, and Registrar for Southwest PETs.   Jim served as an Assistant Rotary Coordinator and Assistant Public Image Coordinator for Zone 26 before becoming the Rotary Public Image Coordinator for 2018-2021.

Originally from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Jim attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a Telecommunications degree from Kent State University before moving to California to begin a 35-year career in the Broadcasting business.  Now retired, Jim is a District 5240 Master PRLS Graduate, member of the Paul Harris Society, Bequest Society, and he and his wife Donna are Major Donors.

Jim and Donna reside in Bakersfield and share the hobbies of their ever-present dogs, reading, travel, and enjoying the many Rotarians that have enriched their lives and the many blessings of 44 years of marriage.

Lynn Perez-Hewitt | Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator | Email

Lynn Perez-Hewitt is originally from Rockford, Illinois, but migrated West in her early twenties.  She joined Rotary ten years ago while living in Arizona.  Seeking better fishing and business opportunities she and her husband Jim moved to the Western Slope area of Colorado in 2012 where she joined clubs in Grand Junction, serving as both PR chair for her club and District.  Lynn and her husband Jim, a musician and cybersecurity analyst, chose to move to the Denver area in 2016 to seek opportunities for professional growth. She is Membership Chair for Rotary District 5450 and an Assistant Zone Public Image Chair.

Lynn is currently Development Manager for Empowering Colorado, a journalism nonprofit focusing on energy development in the state.  She has been a consultant to nonprofits, economic development groups, and government agencies.  Among the organizations she served in Southern Arizona were Friends of Kartchner Caverns State Park, Microbusiness Advancement Center, Community Food Bank, Copper Corridor Economic Development Coalition, the Pima County Health Department and the Tucson Chamber Artists.

Lynn is accredited in Public Relations, holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and a Communications and English double major from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. She is a Past President of the Southern Arizona chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, and a Past-President of the Tucson American Marketing Association.

Anabella Bonfa | Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator | Email

Anabella Bonfa is a business litigation attorney with Wellman & Warren LLP.   Anabella is a Past Membership Chair and Public Image/Social Media for District 5320.    She was the “Rotarian of the Year” award recipient for District 5320 in 2015-2016 for her work increasing membership and promoting club public image throughout the district.  Anabella is the 2013-14 recipient of the Rotary International Vocational Service Leadership Award for her work mentoring new lawyers and young professionals.  Anabella is a proud member of Irvine Rotary, a club which has won 4 Best Club awards from District 5320 for the last 6 years.

Scott Phillips | Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator | Email

Scott joined the Rotary Club of Goleta Noontime in 2013 and served as President in 2016-17. During his year as club President, the club was #1 in the District for per capita giving to The Rotary Foundation annual fund. Scott has served Rotary District 5240 as Communications Director in 2015-16, Assistant Governor in 2017-18, Chief Operating Officer in 2018-19, District Administrator in 2019-20 and will serve as Chief of Staff in 2020-21. Scott is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Rotary District 5240 Charitable Foundation.

Scott is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society Member, Major Donor and member of the Bequest Society.

Scott is the CEO of Synergy Computing, Inc., an IT Managed Service Provider in Santa Barbara, CA and is the author of the book “Hassle-Free Computer Support: A Small Business Owner’s Guide For Finding a Competent, Honest, Considerate, On-Time, Fairly Priced and Dependable Computer Consultant”. Scott is a Certified HIPAA Security Professional and member of FBI InfraGard.

Scott resides in Santa Barbara, CA where he was born and raised.

Michael Soden | Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator | Email

Michael first joined Rotary in 2003 and is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Green Valley, Henderson Nevada, He is a two time President. The first time was in Central Virginia, District 7600, Brandermill (Midlothian), 2008-2009. The second time was for his current club Green Valley, District 5300, 2013-2014. During his year as President of Green Valley, the club was named the #1 medium size club in District 5300, received the RI Presidential Citation with Distinction and the club became a 100% Paul Harris Fellow club. Michael was honored in receiving Rotarian of the year by his respective clubs on three separate occasions.

Michael currently serves as District Communications Officer (DCO) for District 7600 and District 5300. Is the District 5300 Grants chair 2017-2020. He has been serving on the SWR PETS committee since 2015 as committee chair for the Website/Social Media/USummit.   Additionally, Michael is a Paul Harris Fellow +7.

Michael is the owner/founder of Harcalf Agency. A web development firm since 2001. He lives with his wife Sylvia in Henderson, Nevada. They have one daughter (Alycia) and two grandsons (Aden and Alejandro).

David Bobanick | Rotary Public Image Coordinator | Email

David has more than two decades of experience in non-profit leadership and management. As executive director of Rotary First Harvest – a program of Rotary District 5030, David and his team have significantly expanded the organization’s strategic impact of developing and expanding programs to reduce hunger and food waste at the local, national and international levels.

David studied Communications at Penn State University and has completed the Non-Profit Executive Leadership Institute at the Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington as well as Executive Leadership Institutes at Stanford University’s School of Social Innovation. David has guided numerous non-profit organizations and Rotary clubs in the development of long-range strategic plans and serves as a board officer for four local and statewide non-profit organizations.

David is a member and past President of the Rotary Club of Mercer Island and has served as a District Trainer, Assistant Governor, and as an Assistant Rotary Public Information Coordinator for Zones 25/26.

Tom Boylan | Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator | Email

Tom is the owner and creative director for the Boylan Point Agency in Santa Rosa, California. The agency is a full-service marketing company providing consulting, media production, web design, and web marketing.

A graduate of Sacramento State University in Communications & Journalism, Boylan has more than 35 years of marketing and media experience. His work includes marketing, sales management and media production for newspaper, television, and radio. Tom’s creative writing skills have been widely published in both web and print, including ten years of writing and editing several weekly columns and award-winning special sections for the New York Times-owned Press Democrat in Santa Rosa, California.

Boylan is a member and past president with the Rotary Club of Windsor, Ca. He has served as District 5130 Public Relations Chair since 2008. In 2013 he was invited to serve as assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator.

Katie Coard | Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator | Email

Originally from England, Katie moved to Victoria, Canada seven years ago. Katie is currently working as a freelance project manager, online content manager and website developer specializing in working with nonprofits. Her work includes website development, web design, creating and managing social media accounts and coordinating marketing strategies.

Katie is passionate about working with Rotary clubs to help improve their online presence. She uses her knowledge of Rotary combined with her website and marketing expertise to help Rotary Clubs realize their online potential via their club website and social media accounts.

Katie loves being an active Rotarian in her local community of Victoria, BC. She was a member and past president with the Rotaract Club of Victoria. In 2016, she founded the Rotary Club of Downtown Victoria and is their charter, President. She also serves as the chair of the District 5020 Public Image Committee. In 2017, she was invited to serve as Zone 25 assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator.

Sadie Ward | Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator | Email

Sadie Ward grew up outside the small town of Weaverville, California. After graduating high school, she attended College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University, majoring in Business Administration and Economics. In 2004, she moved to Florence, Oregon to run her family’s shoe and clothing boutique, Stitch & Sole.  She is also a Real Estate Broker at Coldwell Banker Coast Real Estate.

Sadie joined the Rotary Club of Florence in March of 2006 and offered her leadership as membership Director for 2006-09, Co-Chaired the club’s major fundraiser for 3 years and became club president 2014/15. In 2015 she was promoted to District 5110 Public Image and Education Chair, a committee which she established. Sadie is a Paul Harris Fellow plus 8 and was honored to be a 2018/19 District 5110 Rotarian of the Year.

Sadie runs and is always looking for help with the District 5110, as well as the Zone 26/27 Facebook pages.

Sadie has been able to create a vibrant Public Image Committee at the District level, and is excited to work with those District Public Image chairs who would like to create a committee of more than 1 to help their clubs and district build a strong Rotary brand to build pride for their members and create awareness of Rotary in their communities. She is also a great resource if you want help using social media to support your Rotary public image efforts.
