0:00 Rotary is 1.2 million members strong,
0:04 1.2 million people dedicated to giving back, partnering with communities, and making a lasting change in our areas of focus.
0:14 And after nearly 125 years of service,
0:18 we’ve learned how to achieve outcomes that improve lives for generations.
0:23 Here’s how. First, partner with the community. True impact comes from understanding the unique characteristics and priorities of your community.
0:34 In Baltimore, USA, Rotary Clubs partnered with violence prevention educators in some of the city’s most underserved neighborhoods. Through open
0:42 dialogue, they discovered gaps in existing efforts and opportunities for collaboration. Rotary helped connect educators across the city to share
0:51 resources. Together, they are building safer communities by exploring citywide collaboration.
0:59 Next, invest in skills over supplies. Equipment may solve immediate problems.
1:06 Training and development help create long-term solutions. In Colombia, Rotary members partnered with women coffee
1:13 farmers and their families to strengthen farming practices and build business skills. By prioritizing training, the
1:20 women built stronger, more resilient livelihoods, knowledge they’re now sharing with the next generation.
1:28 Measuring our progress helps us determine if we are on the right track to achieve the expected positive change. To improve maternal health in Nigeria,
1:37 Rotary Club members worked with communities and health facilities to gather data on why maternal and neonatal deaths were high. They learned few
1:46 pregnant women attend checkups and many give birth at home. Rotary worked with government and partners to encourage
1:53 prenatal care and facility births. This program is measuring a rise in clinic visits, putting it on track to
2:01 significantly reduce mortality. We are 1.2 2 million people dedicated to making a true impact.
2:10 By partnering with communities,
2:12 investing in skills, and measuring our progress, we create positive impact that lasts.
