A member of the Rotary Club of East Sacramento, CA in District 5180, Bob has served as District Treasurer, Assistant Governor, has been on the Group Study Exchange Committee, being their chairperson from 2007 through 2010 and served on many other District Committees. He chaired the 2008-09 District Training Assembly and led the District’s Group Study Exchange team to Sweden in 2007. He served as District 5180’s District Governor in 2012-13 and was the chairperson of both the District’s Advisory Committee and District Rotary Foundation Committee from 2014 to 2017. For his work in Rotary, he has been awarded the Service Above Self Award from Rotary International and The Citation for Meritorious Service from The Rotary Foundation.

He along with Past President Brian Gladden of the Rotary Club of Roseville, spearheaded a Global Grant Project to bring education training to students in combatting modern slavery/human trafficking in District 5180 along with an outreach campaign to make the general population of the Greater Sacramento area aware of this problem in their communities. This project raised close to $400,000 with help from The Rotary Foundation through a Global Grant. He has spoken throughout the Western United States on the subject and was chosen by Zones 26/27 chair a Summit in October 2022 to Stop Modern Slavery attended by Rotarians from both Zones and around the United States. Through this work he has become active in the Rotary Action Group Against Slavery (RAGAS) and currently serves as its chairperson. He is also a board member of PACE Universal, a non-profit started by PDG Deepa Willingham that had a school in rural India that provides education for young women who would never attended school without this school.
